"Baby We Were Born to Run"

As our country celebrates 250 years of independence, I’ve found myself reflecting on something much closer to home. Recently I’ve spent countless hours studying not only the history of our nation, but the history of Edgecombe County. The more I have learned, the more I realize that every generation reaches a moment when it’s their turn to help write the next chapter.

For me, that moment is now.

After a lot of prayer, conversations with my family, and more self-reflection than you probably realize, I’ve decided it’s time to stop sitting on the sidelines.

I’m officially entering the race as a write-in candidate for Edgecombe County Commissioner, District 6.

I don’t have all the answers, and I never will. But I do know how to ask good questions. I know how to bring people together. I know how to study an issue before making decisions. And I love this county enough to do the hard work.

Entering this race isn’t about politics for me…it’s about service. It’s about honoring the generations before us while making sure the next generation has every reason to build their future right here in Edgecombe County.

While a more formal and public announcement will come soon, there are three ways you - my friends and family - can support me now.

First, pray. Pray for wisdom, discernment, humility, and courage…not just for me, but for everyone who shows up each day to serve our community: our law enforcement, first responders, educators, healthcare and public health workers, farmers, military, veterans, nonprofit leaders, business owners, faith leaders, and public servants.

Second, invite me. If there’s a kitchen table conversation, church gathering, neighborhood meeting, farm, business, or community group where people are talking about the future of Edgecombe County, I’d love to come listen. I don’t just want to tell you what matters to me; I want to understand what matters to you.

Third, sign my write-in petition. Signing simply allows my name to appear as an official write-in candidate in November. It is not a promise to vote for me. My family and I will be around the county throughout the holiday weekend with signature pages and would be grateful for your support.

Edgecombe County has given so much to me and my family over six generations. I hope this is one small way that I can give something back.
